Largess

Privacy

Short, because there is almost nothing to say. Last updated July 2026.

What we collect

Nothing. The website and the LARGESS mobile app have no accounts, no sign-up, no login, no analytics, no advertising, no cookies of our own, no tracking pixels and no advertising identifiers. We do not build a profile of you, because we do not know who you are.

The mobile app

The app makes exactly one network request: it downloads the public file largess.vercel.app/ledger.json, which is the same public ledger anyone can open in a browser. It sends no data of any kind, stores nothing about you on your device beyond the operating system's normal app cache, and requests no permissions other than internet access. Tapping "Make a Tribute" simply opens the public website in your own browser; tapping "Issue the Challenge" hands text to your system share sheet, which you control.

The website

The site is static and hosted by Vercel, which — like any web host — processes standard technical request data (IP address, user agent, timestamps) to serve pages and defend against abuse. We do not add analytics on top of it, and we do not receive or consult reports identifying visitors. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which processes the request technically in the same way.

If you make a tribute

Payments are handled entirely by the payment provider (PayPal, and any card processor later added). We never see or store your card details. We receive from the provider what any recipient receives: the payer name and the amount. If you ask to be inscribed in the Ledger, you email us the alias you choose and your transaction reference — that alias and the amount then become deliberately public, because being publicly remembered is the entire point of the Ledger. Do not ask for inscription if you do not want that.

The Debt Roll

If a tribute inscribed in the Ledger is later reversed, the alias you chose, the reversed amount and the date may be published permanently in the Debt Roll. Only these objective facts are recorded, and never a legal name. This is disclosed in Article V of the Covenant before anything happens.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. The exception is a Ledger inscription you requested: write to us and we will remove your alias from the public Ledger. A Debt Roll entry is retained as a factual record of a reversed payment.

Children

Largess is for adults, 18 and over. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
